I went up to Auckland to shoot for the Rothko Quartet a few days before flying back to Sydney for uni. Their europe tour began in July, and they wanted imagery for their various concerts etc. The lead violinist, Olivia, and I go way back (aka music competitions when I was wee) and I hadn’t seen her in years. It was really lovely traipsing around Auckland CBD in gowns, dresses and (eventually) soggy shoes. I maintain there’s nothing more beautiful than a musical instrument and so this was a nice change to my usual fashion work. One of these days, …
when in doubt, go to the park, it’s where the children live.
I love natural light, and decided to set up a home-made studio in my backyard to shoot a casual beauty editorial with my favourite people on a sunny NZ afternoon before we all buggered off to uni and whatnot. These are the outtakes & behind the scenes shots from ‘Colour Palate’, an editorial which was later picked up by En Vie magazine as their May 2013 cover and featured spread.
This was shot mid-winter 2012 for Millie’s spring collection I think; went out to an abandoned farm house and stepped in animal carcasses. Was shot with a friend’s camera as this was in my Sony era of photography.
